Denis Taylor, painters Tubes founder and Editor gives an overview of what he actually does to bring the Art to painters TUBES magazine. Example London: November 23rd to 26th 2023

Here we are again, ´Christmas has been and gone and the year is over with a New Year just around the corner. I really hope all our readers had a great Christmas and will also experience a wonderful New Year. For me November was an incredible busy time, so when I wasn't dodging the metaphorical bullets of despair and trying to keep a positive outlook on life I was looking at Art. I believe looking art is reassuring for the soul.

Nov 2023.Having flown into London for a number of pre-arranged visits, my first stop was the Exhibition of some new great paintings (Reflection Portraits series, see photo above) mounted in the magnificent Sotheby's Gallery in New Bond Street. These works by Colin Davidson were on the same theme as his work that I viewed in Belfast at the artists retrospective in 2022, and I can say truthfully they lifted my spirits.

Next in line was the National Art Gallery - and that was a wow of a show- If you have never seen Frans Hals Portraits up close. Please take time to have a look - if you get the chance. It is astonishing what this painter was doing centuries ago. From here it was a private premiere to view the large amount of abstract work by Barbara Hope Steinberg, which overwhelmed me. Literally, there was over 60 pieces placed together which almost blended into one large painting. An extraordinary collection. The next in line was a personal and private tour at the fantastic Gazelli Art House (Dover Street) where I was privileged to witness the installation of the Pauline Boty (retro) Exhibition, a star of the British Pop Art movement who died far too young. That show opened on 1 December and runs through to February. The show is very touching and gives off the joy of liberation of the the 1960's. From Dover Street it was a good walk to Tate Modern, where my life long friend and fellow creative took me to the see the retrospective of Philip Guston. This was an eye opener. It was a visual confirmation of the need for an artist to change often to find his unique voice.

And before I knew it, it was evening and I found myself enjoying traditional fish and chips in a super English pub in Wimbledon. After a good nights peaceful sleep, it was a train over to Gatwick and flight to Kastrup, over the bridge and home to Studio 5 in Sweden. -
That was the best trip of 2023 for sure - So a wee
