“What we see with our eyes is minimal and selective, in contradiction to what we feel with our emotions, which is vast and limitless.”

the abstract paintings of Barbara Hope Steinberg a review by Denis Taylor. artist and editor

It was a great pleasure to speak with Barbara Hope Steinberg , an Artist of much acclaim. That interaction that was incredibly important for me to write something worth while for the readers of painters Tubes. It is a fact that seeing is believing, and when I first visited the artist in her studio in 2021 my belief in her work has escalated to a new high when I viewed them in real life. The artist had developed a series of work in three parts. From 2017/2018. One is entitled the Crows which is a narration with the bird 'Crows' used as a metaphor for sensations that are not easily put into words. The second in the series is “In Time of Plague” 2020/2022 which explores an introspective view of life, death and all that goes with that. The the third is a new series "For a World on Fire." Obvious conclusions for that title are accepted, giving the world's current position. Barbara is now 80 years old and a very accomplished artist and something of an intellectual. Her studio based at the bottom of her garden in North London is a room filled with Art of significance. It was here when we met face to face and where her work had first took hold of my own artistic admiration. I returned to her studio in 2023.

"Crows" Series of painting

On the visit to Barbara's studio this year I was delighted to see the first half dozen canvases of the third and important series of work Barbara is creating. The artist is relating to what is happening today, environmentally challenges and the chaos with the major “War” in Europe. These works of art are as stunning as the previous two series. Painters TUBES have created several separate catalogues of the complete series (Crows and In Time of Plague) which were given to interested parties. I and painters TUBES magazine are delighted to say interest and actual acquisitions have increased exponentially since the end of Covid. Painters TUBES gallery have hosted her work online in our rather splendid VR Gallery presentations and have welcomed visitors in excess of fifty thousand since the first show of Barbara's work opened. The VR shows will run in our purpose design space now and until the 30 December 2023. The success of the exhibition and the catalogue
